What to Look For In a Portable Massage Table

For many therapists visiting clients and/or adjusting the placement of their massage couch is a core part of their day. However, in order to do this, a high-quality portable massage table is essential. Although with so many options available on the market, how do you know what to look for?

To help you, we have taken a closer look at the four top features you should consider:

Weight

One of the first things that you should consider is the weight of the portable massage couch. This is twofold; first, you want to ensure that you can physically carry the couch around when visiting clients or when moving it between treatment rooms. Second, you will also need to ensure that the working weight is able to support your client and your massage style.

If your working solely as mobile therapist then ideally you will want your massage table to be as light as possible, some of our couches are as light as 11.5kg however; you will probably have to compromise somewhere depending on the type of material your you prefer (wood vs aluminium) and the functionality (flat vs lifting).

If your couch is predominantly going to be stationary but perhaps just moved around the treatment premises on occasion, then you afford a slightly heavier couch.

Ease of Set Up

If your going to be taking down and setting up your couch regularly you want massage table that is simple and quick to set up. All of our tables are designed to be set and height adjusted effortlessly however; aluminium tables are by the nature of their design the quickest to height adjust.

Materials & Construction

Another major consideration when finding the best portable massage table is the materials that they are made from. You want to select a massage table that is high quality and robust so you can count on it to last for years to come.

Something to factor in is what the base of the table is made from, with the two primary options being; wood or aluminium. Often one will be chosen over the other based on aesthetics and what you prefer the look of.

One important consideration is the upholstery of the table. PU/PVC leather vinyl and are the most common, and you want to choose an option that not only looks great but is durable and easy to clean.

The details that aren’t always obviously go in to the highest quality treatment tables these are things such as stitching, corner patches, aluminium and wood finishes. All of the above add up to a robust built to last couch.

Foam Quality & Thickness

The thickness of the foam is also an important consideration. You want to ensure that your client is comfy but that their body is also supported. Many cheaper tables come with a thin foam layer and or low quality foam. A higher density foam will also ensure that the portable massage chair does not flatten or sag over time, ensuring it can last for many years.

The “Gold Standard” In terms of foam is triple ply. This is where three layers of different density foam are “sandwiched” on top of each other to provide comfort on initial contact and support further down.

If you are searching for a high-quality portable massage table on sale, there are many factors that you should consider. You want to ensure that you are purchasing the very best that you can afford, as not only does this help to maximise the comfort of your clients, but it will also last far longer than more affordable options.
